Abstract

In urbana areas, the occupation of Permanent Preservation Areas - PPA causes the destruction of green areas and affect the quality of available waterre sources. The purpose of this article is to integrate geospatial information to analyze the occupation of APP in River Basin Criciúma, to mitigate conflicts of land use and occupation. The methods used are based on remote sensing and cartographic data that has been integrated through a Geographic Information System- GIS and it self related. Raw information found in historical cartography was transformed into useful and relevant information. The results show through thematic maps that 18.78% of APP over the streams in this watershed were occupied illegally, the main reason for the occurrence of economic and social damage caused by the floods in the central area of the city. However, the most important results, we point out the integration of temporal geospatial information as strategic to recognize the trend of expanding occupation of areas protected by law and support the establishment of clear guidelines for the use of land within the municipality.
