Il ruolo delle circolazioni artistiche nella definizione degli stili locali: novità sul Maestro del Messale ms. 3 della Cattedrale di Narbonne

Abstract

Research conducted in the last years has made it possible to identify numerous unpublished specimens of illuminated Occitan legal manuscripts, greatly expanding that corpus, with significant repercussions for our understanding of the development of miniature painting in Southern France. Here we show that three newly studied illuminated legal manuscripts (Vatican Library, Vat. lat. 2499; Bryn Mawr College Library, MS 7; Escorial, ms. c I 6) shed significant light on the work of the illuminator of the Missal of the use of Narbonne, ms. 3 in the Treasury of the cathedral of that city and additionally on the identity of Montuccio da Pisa, the copyist of the Pontifical (Venice, Correr Museum, ms. cl. V. 122) which was illuminated by the Master of the Missal of Augier de Cogeux.
