Abstract
Social scientists have often explained the emergence of armed struggle focusing on the «political opportunity structure». Instead of that, this paper tries to analyze the rise and consolidation of armed insurgency in Spain during the last years of Franco regime by considering the revolutionary culture in which the organizations that took arms were framed, as well as its political dynamics, regarded as a part of the general dynamics of anti-Francoism and of revolutionary left in particular. As for these dynamics, the relation of these militant groups with State poliq? -especially with repression-is also considered.
