Abstract

The main objective of this book chapter is to investigate the public policies to support employment adopted by the Azores Government, given the oscillations and challenges of the labour market, in a period when the pandemic situation caused by the new coronavirus SARS-COV-2 generated negative impacts on regional companies, thus challenging the maintenance and survival of companies and the employability of their human resources. Given the specificity of the topic, the study was based on recent data, in particular, the constant changes in legislation and guidelines issued by the Azores Regional Government-Portugal, given the pandemic context and the pressing need for employment support measures to promote the strengthening of the regional economy, combat unemployment and job insecurity.
