Abstract

This paper focuses a particular facet of geosciences, which intends to use the georesources in teaching geology.
The first aim is to support the meaning of teaching geology and its public understanding, and at the same time exploring the georesources importance as a didactic, pedagogical and cultural source, and show all sequence of stone processing. Furthermore, this communication intends to disclose all the operations and role of stone industry. After a theoretical knowledge about stone processing, the field work was developed in the company Alexandrino Pais Leitão Lda. It consists on a field trip to this company facility, taking into account the sequence of operations of stone transformation.
In this communication, it is demonstrated that geological resources are a source of raw materials, and can be an excellent source of knowledge for education.
