Abstract
With the growing centrality of female characters in video games on an international level and the expansion of gender studies in this medium, one may notice the lack of academic literature that addresses musicology and gender representations in interactive audiovisual products. This article analyzes the physical and psychological constructions of three main female characters in video games, examining the musical imagery that accompanies them as vehicle of representation of their integration and role in the narratives in which they operate: Quiet from Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain (Konami, 2015), Aveline de Grandpré from Assassin’s Creed III:Liberation (Ubisoft, 2012) and GLaDOS from Portal and Portal 2 (Valve, 2007 and 2011).
