Abstract

This paper seeks to explain the role of the State as a commissioner of furniture for its services and buildings, and by that its impact on furniture design and industry. The Ministry of Public Works, being responsible for the construction of public buildings and installation of government facilities, as well as for its furniture and equipment, is one of the most important agents in this analysis. The second part will give a general view of the quality and capacity of the manufacturers in responding to those challenges.
