Excitation function measurements of the elastic and inelastic scattering of protons in the 1600 to 5300 keV energy range for Li and F

Abstract

Excitation functions have been obtained for the 19F(p,p’γ)19F (Eγ= 110, 197, 1236, 1349+1357 keV), 7Li(p,nγ)7Be (Eγ = 429 keV) and 7Li (p,p’γ) 7Li (Eγ = 478 keV) reactions for proton energies of 1600 to 5300 keV, with an energy step of 10 and 50 keV. The γ-rays were detected by a HPGe detector placed at an angle of 135° with respect to the beam direction. The purpose of these measurements is to improve the cross-sections accuracies necessary to set up PIGE (Proton Induced Gamma-ray Emission) as an accurate standard less technique for lithium and fluorine, and to test and improve theoretical models and codes such as TALYS 1.9. In parallel, the differential proton elastic scattering cross-sections on 6Li, 7Li, 19F at 165° in the laboratory frame were also measured.
