Evocações camonianas: O IV Centenário da Estada de Luis Vaz de Camões na Ilha de Moçambique (1569-1969). Parte II: As obras artísticas comemorativas

Justificado o contexto histórico e apresentado o processo institucional em que decorreu a realização do IV Centenário da Estada de Luis de Camões na Ilha de Moçambique (1569-1969) na primeira parte deste estudo – com a identificação dos membros das comissões oficiais promotoras dos eventos e a avaliação das atividades culturais propostas no programa definitivo implementado na então província moçambicana –, importa agora proceder à análise dos conjuntos artísticos encomendados entre os anos de 1968 e 1969.
A abordagem proposta para esta segunda parte assenta na apresentação, interpretação e confrontação das obras produzidas no âmbito das comemorações de 1969: as coleções filatélicas impressas, a medalha cunhada e a escultura fundida. Complementarmente, procurar-se-á ainda identificar os agentes envolvidos, os oficiais responsáveis pela encomenda e os artistas envolvidos na conceção artística e execução material das obras, confrontar os modelos de influência artística e averiguar os modos de produção.

In the first part of this study, it was justified and explained the historical context and the institutional process regarding the IV Centenary of the stay of Luis de Camões on the Island of Mozambique (1569-1969). After the identifi-cation of the official commissions members responsible for the events and the evaluation of the cultural activities proposed in the definitive program implemented on the Mozambican province, we proceed now to the analysis of the artistic sets commissioned between the years of 1968 and 1969.The approach proposed for this second part is based on the presentation, interpretation and confrontation of the works produced in the context of the commemorations of 1969: the printed philatelic collections, the minted medal and the casted sculpture. In addition, an attempt will be made to identify the active agents, the officials responsible for the works commis-sions and the artists involved in the conception and material execution, comparing the models of artistic influence and investigating the modes of production.
