Abstract
The authors have studied 54 dogs' hearts in order to systematize the origin, the course and the distribution of the vasa vasorum of the great vessels of the heart in the dog. To this end they have used an injection technique (corrosion-fluorescence) to verify the excellent penetration of the product and the good visualisation of the structure under the Wood's lamp. The arterial vasa vasorum of the pulmonary veins originate respectively from the auricular branches of the circumflex artery, from a right-anterior auricular branch of the artery of the sino-auricular node, branches of the right coronary and of the bronchial arteries. The authors systematize the irrigation of the pulmonary vein, noting that the classification is not a rigid one since it must take into account the variability in the size and shape of the auricular arterial branches which between them supply the vasa vasorum and their multiple anastomoses.
