Abstract
It is studied the influence of OCR (over consolidation ratio) in K0 value, through a several edometric tests performed in a triaxial cell using a volume control technique in drained conditions. The method used is validated ensuring no lateral deformation of the specimen, during the test, while the load rate is adjusted to ensure the total dissipation of the excess of pore pressures. Results obtained from a test performed with cycles of loading-unloading-reloading are presented, leading to the verification that K0 OC value increases with OCR in a similar way for unloading and reloading. The experimental results are compared with empirical expressions proposed by other authors, when applicable, being suggested, for this case, an empirical expression, that relates K0 with OCR for over consolidated sands.
