Abstract
This paper shows the results of the study of the plasters from the “Carmen del
Mauror” in Granada: their main characteristics, their relationship among other examples of contemporary plasters and some chronological precisions. Methodologically, it has been verified the presence of an internal order in the arabesque, which can be systematized through a wide variety of numerical sequences. This feature shows an evolution in the Almoravid period and in the Andalusi plasters, and allows to propose a more accurate chronology for the plasters of this period. This richness of numerical sequences appears both in the Andalusi and the North African examples. This fact is interpreted as an intentional purpose with specific and deep aesthetic principles, which
allows to differentiate the Almoravid arabesque from other ones.
