Abstract

Around the world, women lose their lives, are discriminated, beaten or raped for being women. Recognising that this is a serious violation of human rights, in recent decades, international organisations have promoted agreements and urged countries to take measures to eradicate this violence. In this article, we intend to cut and expose some data from the reality of two countries, Brazil and Portugal, highlighting the advances and setbacks found, in the hope of being able to contribute in some way to the debate on this persistent problem.
