Abstract

The present collective work, in which more than a dozen Portuguese, Spanish and Brazilian experts participate, takes the view on the issue of ageing in the Algarve's regional context. Without neglecting the theoretical and practical contributions from other places that, for the depth, dimension or originality of the work done, constitute challenges and sources of reflection for the future. The aim of this book is to contribute to a well-founded diagnosis of the regional reality regarding the phenomenon of ageing and to reflect on new ways and good practices that promote active ageing. The aim of this e-book is to contribute to the answer to questions related to the ways of ageing in the Algarve region, from the perspective offered by studies carried out in the area of ​​the confluence of social sciences, health and education: As it is currently understood human ageing? What do elderly people living in the Algarve think about their own ageing process? What do you think about your happiness, about your quality of life? What profiles of psychological and functional functioning are found in the region and how are they characterized? What are the conditions of positive ageing? What are the factors of quality of life in the ageing process? What proportion of those who age well, very well or badly in the Algarve population? How are favorable and unfavorable environments characterized by the quality of life in ageing? What do elderly people think about their experiences in the context of participating in projects that promote active ageing? How do you evaluate these experiences? How can the potential of older people be developed in order to contribute to the improvement of their quality of life and their happiness?
