N2 - We report on the formation of anions through electron attachment to the coenzyme Q0 in the gas-phase. It represents the functional group of the electron carrier coenzyme Q10, which plays a key role in the electron transport chain in the mitochondrial complex. The parent anion is most abundantly formed in a near-zero eV resonance, presumably correlating with the electronic ground state of the molecule. This observation accounts for the ability of coenzyme Q10 to capture and transport electrons in biological processes.
