Abstract

In this work we present a completely new method of preparing cellulose based electro-optical cells which gives a new idea of developing displays with a lower production cost. These devices can be used as shutters since they can be electrically controlled to scatter light (OFF state) or to be transparent (ON state). This type of device mainly works like a PDLC cell, but the operating voltage is really smaller, the contrast ratio is higher and can be improved even further.
