Multilevelmodulations have good spectral efficiency, although at the expenseofpower efficiency. In mobile wireless systems, where there are strict powerandbandwidth constrains, we must maximize the power efficiency. This means the useofhigh-efficiencyamplificationschemes at the transmitter sideandcompact constellations combined with powerful equalizers at the receiver side. In this paper we considerSC-FDEschemes (Single-Carrier with Frequency-Domain Equalization) combined withmultilevelconstellations that can be decomposed as the sumofBPSK(Binary Shift Keying)signals. These components can be separately amplifiedandbesides this decomposition allows the definitionofnewefficientIB-DFE (Iterative Block Decision Feedback Equalization) implementations suitable formultilevelconstellations, with low impactonsystem complexity.
