EDUCATION OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDENTS: A PLACE FOR DANCE?

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Abstract: In the present Portuguese situation, dance is still poorly integrated into the education system. Although existing in the national curricula and being considered on Educational Goals for Education, the truth is that few places are open in schools for teachers with training in this area. Dance is also contemplated in PE curricula, but many teachers indicate they do not have enough preparation for it. In this paper our purpose is to address a perspective that we have been developing with the objective of presenting dance to the physical education student in an accessible and motivating away, to develop a taste for the activity and understanding its artistic value. It is intended to show how the body can become an instrument of choreographic composition, using individual experiences and each one's creativity to lead students to the pleasure of communicating through dance.
