Abstract
This communication aims to present some preliminary results of the project of sociological research “Building pathways to death: an analysis of everyday work in palliative care”, financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. Departing analytically from Barney Glaser and Anselm Strauss’s interactionism sociology and from the pragmatic sociology of Luc Boltanski and Laurent Thévenot, we will seek to analyse how healthcare professionals in palliative care deal with a complexity of specific situations in their everyday work and what type of arrangements they make to provide comfort to patients during their end of life trajectories.
