Abstract

This chapter explains how the Portuguese periodical Correio Braziliense, published in London, reported and commented on the conspiracy led by general Gomes Freire de Andrade in Lisbon, in 1817 and how its editor, Hipólito da Costa, reflected on it before and after the 1820 liberal revolution.
