Abstract
The Convent of Santana of Lisbon, whose construction began in the sixteenth century, is today the location of some installations of the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas, part of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Recent construction projects lead to the identification of several pristine structures, namely waste pits rich in remains, one of which will be addressed in the following article. Large quantities of ceramics have been found including tableware, kitchenware, storage vessels, objects linked to worship and construction materials. The collection, which dates back to the late 16th, early 17th centuries, attests to the presence of an elite group with high social status, exquisite taste and the ability to procure prestigious and expensive objects, often of exogenous origin.
