Contributos para uma arqueologia moderna e contemporânea em contextos terrestres do arquipélago dos Açores

Esta comunicação visa apresentar alguns dos resultados de intervenções arqueológicas decorridas em dois contextos urbanos das ilhas dos Açores, nomeadamente a ilha Terceira e a ilha de S. Maria, no âmbito de acções de minimização de impacte. As intervenções nos sítios Hospital Militar da Boa Nova em Angra do Heroísmo e na Casa do Capitão, em Vila do Porto constituem um importante contributo para a construção de referentes de base no arquipélago relativos à sua cultura material, à ocupação do espaço urbano e ao tipo de estratigrafia em contexto insular que até à data conta com poucos trabalhos como referentes científicos.

This paper has the objective to present the results of two archaeological interventions in the Azores, in Terceira and in S. Maria Islands, both in the context of archaeological impacts relating and comparing the two contexts. The interventions on the sites Hospital Militar da Boa Nova and Casa do Capitão were an important contribution to the construction of references in the archipelago related with his material culture and related with the occupation of the space and also related with the stratigraphy in insular contexts. The main goal with this presentation will be present to the archaeological community this works and the most relevant results contributing this way to the knowledge of the human occupation on this territory.
