Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the geometric deviations of the components of a mechanical assembly in order to ascertain their influence on a specified clearance for an assembly. To a mechanical system was made an analysis of dimensional tolerances, and an analysis combining dimensional and geometric tolerances, as well as an analysis of the influence of each tolerance in the variation of the clearance. The results found shown that the inclusion of geometric tolerances in the tolerance analysis resulted in more than 130% increase on the variation of the clearance. Some proposals are suggested for use during the product development with the objective of reducing the influence of geometric deviations on the clearances, because the computation of this influence is not easy.
