Comemorar os 90 anos do Instituto Português de Heráldica

A question of remembering the foundation and history of the Portuguese Heraldry Institute, pointing out the idiosyncrasy of this founding date, 1929. The year before, 1928, Salazar came to power, embracing the finance portfolio; the following year, 1930, the first founding document of the Estado Novo - the Colonial Act - appeared. In 1929, therefore, there was a national re-foundation project that was being built with various influxes. One of these was a historicist vision of the nation and the state: since the nineteenth century, in the times of the constitutional monarchy and its successive regenerations, including the First Republic, this idea of a new life that should be instilled in the political and social organisation through the reinterpretation of the national past has never ceased to prevail.
