Abstract

A conceptual architecture is introduced to guide the development of a collaborative ecosystem of care services supporting active ageing. A holistic perspective of ambient assisted living, focusing on elderly and considering four important life settings is adopted: (i) Independent living; (ii) Health and care in life; (iii) Occupation in life; and (iv) Recreation in life. In order to provide a better understanding and inter-relate concepts, a 3-layered model is adopted: Infrastructure layer, Care and assistance services layer, and AAL ecosystem layer. The notion of integrated care services, which are to be provided by multiple stakeholders through well-elaborated collaboration mechanisms, is explored. In this context, the architecture explores the paradigm of collaborative networks. The proposed conceptual framework is aligned with the recommendations of the European BRAID roadmap on ICT and ageing.
