Abstract
The requirements for a platform for Manufacturing Systems integration and Concurrent Engineering are discussed in parallel with an analysis of the evolution of manufacturing and organizational paradigms in industrial companies. A prototype system combining both information integration and cooperation support functionalities is presented and particular emphasis is put on the execution supervision of the enterprise’s plan of business processes. Finally open questions and directions for further research are summarized.
