Chemical constituents in allelopathic straw of wheat (Triticum aestivum)

Abstract

From the two allelopathic active fractions of the methanolic : water extract of wheat straw (Triticum aestivum L.), sixty-six compounds were identified. The compounds were carboxylic acid methyl esters, phenolic acids and triterpenoids. Four of them were new natural products [14a-methyl-5a-cholestan-3-one, (24R)-14ct-methyl-5a-ergostan-3-one, cycloart-5-ene-3P, 25-diol, 4 a- methylergost-5-ene-3P-ol] and with the exception of some phenolic acids, they were compounds reported for the first time from wheat straw. Excluding sitosterol, stigmasterol and campesterol and were "trace" compounds that were isolated and identified.
