Abstract
The accurate representation of assets in industrial environments remains a central challenge, as reflected by the continuous evolution of several Industry 4.0 architectures addressing this issue. In multistage manufacturing systems, this challenge becomes particularly critical due to the need to represent heterogeneous assets, ranging from complex machinery and control systems to software components such as AI models and complex industrial processes. This paper leverages RAMI 4.0 and its practical implementation through the Asset Administration Shell, to demonstrate how to effectively model all hardware and software components within a multistage case study. Moreover, accurate asset representation enables early detection and prevention of defective or noncompliant products while facilitating efficient model sharing and reuse across distributed stations.
