Abstract

This article analyses the relationship between Baroque architecture and music, focusing mainly on the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, and other important cities in the country (Coímbra, Guimarães and Torres Vedras). Iconographic sources related to this topic in Bahía, Brazil will also be used, thus establishing connections between the two continents. The article explores two perspectives within the topic of architectural spaces and music: on the one hand, the representation of physical spaces, from the Baroque era to the present day; and on the other, the reproduction of European images and artists’ fantasy applied to Baroque architecture, in which music also plays a predominant role.
