Abstract

This paper focuses on the outcomes of two Research Projects of History of Science funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT-MCTES), which were developed in the Historical Archive of LNEG (National Laboratory of Energy and Geology), encompassing research on the history of geology and the cataloguing, preventive conservation and digitization of manuscripts and maps. The aim is to draw attention, and contribute to the preservation of this important
nineteenth- and twentieth-century geological archive whose relevance is both national and international.
