Abstract

Enterprise modeling has been considered effective for enterprise integration and engineering. Model traceability is the characteristic in which a model is clearly linked to its source and to the outputs created during the model life cycle. As enterprise models change over time, to ensure better interoperability between systems and organizations it is necessary to trace these changes. Thus, the adoption of an annotation technique for enterprise model traceability seems adequate. This paper proposes a novel methodology for enterprise modeling traceability using annotation technique in order to record the model changes during its life cycle. This methodology is organized in five steps: problem definition, model formulation, model solution, model interpretation and model maintenance. The paper concludes by a case study highlighting the concepts presented on enterprise model traceability and demonstrating the usefulness of the proposed approach to develop enterprise model interoperability during the model life cycle.
