Abstract

Some of the papers presented in Symposium R, 'Advances in Transparent Electronics: from materials to devices 1', at the European Materials Research Society Meeting that took place in Nice from May 29 to June 1, 2006 have been discussed. The symposium program included 8 invited talks, 40 oral presentations, and 124 poster presentations, in a total of 172 contributions. The symposium covered topics ranging from the fundamental understanding of physical phenomena from materials and devices, with special emphasis on the materials and processing for transparent electronics, characterization and modeling new devices, and new applications. Special focus was given to cross-fertilization with other symposiums, and a joint session was also done in conjunction with symposium K 'ZnO and related Materials', covering the field of device applications.
