Abstract
Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen’s work arises first and fore- mostly from the presence of classical culture and her passion for Greece. We do not find, however, a strict interpretation of the founding myths but a very personal recreation of mythic elements within the poet’s quest for the origins of being. This paper aims to show the poetical and philosophical sign- posts that overarch Sophia’s return to Greece.
