Abstract

A novel method for the reduction of sulfoxides and pyridine N-oxides using a silane and a catalytic amount of MoO2Cl2 in excellent yields and with a wide functional group tolerance is reported. A green protocol for this reaction was developed in water with the air-stable catalytic system PMHS/MoO2Cl2(H2O)2.
