Abstract
A reconstituição da vida deste grupo será revelada a partir da análise paleobiológica.
In 2012, a preventive intervention was carried out at the churchyard of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, in Arruda dos Vinhos. Several graves were identified, delimited by orthostats, covered or not by various slabs and also in pits, in multiple overlapping levels. The necropolis discovered belongs to the Medieval and Modern periods, between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries. Eighty individuals were exhumed from primary burials – 41 adults (16 females and 18 males) and 39 non-adults, as well as thousands of disarticulated bones. The archaeology and funerary anthropology will allow a better understanding of the world of the dead, providing information about this community›s mental conceptions of death. Through the paleobiological analysis of the remains recovered, it will be possible to reconstruct the life of these individuals.
