Abstract

Although it is easy to solve the conditional IF problem with a procedural language, it is very difficult to solve it with mathematical programming, especially if the argument of the IF it is an AND or OR logical condition based on variables of the Mixed Integer Liner Program (MILP) model. In this work we propose a very elegant and simple MILP model to solve this problem for one interval and we show with two examples that it is very efficient in terms of runtime and memory usage. In the near future we will work on the solution of the conditional IF problem with two intervals and then we will generalize to N intervals.
