Abstract
Through a historic‐morphologic analysis of Angra (Terceira Island, Azores archipelago,Portugal), this paper investigates the transposition to the Atlantic world, during the 16th century, of land reclamation laws and urban models originating in medieval Portugal, reformulated in the Atlantic islands and after implemented on the rest of the Portuguese Atlantic area. The research is supported by the interrelated analysis of historical data, namely documents on land donations, on recentpublished research on the cited places, and urban morphologic analysis.
