Abstract
The novel The Crime of Father Amaro, by Eça de Queiroz, after following the unedifying actions of its main character in the city of Leiria, has its ending in the most elegant district of the Portuguese capital and shows how the Lisbon bourgeoisie reacted to the historical event of the Paris Commune.
