Abstract
In Jasmina Markič’s vast bibliography, we find an enduring interest in contrastive perspectives on forms and constructions in different languages based on textual analysis. In this article, based on an analysis of the sequencing of forms and grammatical constructions in chronicles, we seek to demonstrate how different grammatical constructions contribute some of the key linguistic characteristics of texts categorised as ‘chronicles’. In this analysis, we center upon a variety of grammatical relations and constructions typical of chronicles, focusing on how they affect on the concepts of genre, text plan and discursive type.
