Yasser Al Helaly is a Cybersecurity Researcher and Invited Assistant Professor at NOVA IMS. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and a Master's degree in Computer Science from the American University in Cairo, along with a Ph.D. in Information Management from Nova Information Management School, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. With over two decades of executive and managerial experience in the field of cybersecurity, Dr. Al Helaly possesses a profound blend of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in information security and applied cybersecurity.
Dr. Al Helaly’s scholarly contributions to the field of cybersecurity are significant. His research has been featured at prominent conferences such as the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS). He has multiple studies under review in prestigious Information Systems journals and has recently authored a paper on identity protection in mobile environments, published in the renowned Journal of Computers & Security. This journal is globally acknowledged as a leading source of reference for IT security research and applications expertise.
Currently, as a Professor of Cybersecurity at NOVA IMS, Dr. Al Helaly is committed to educating the forthcoming generation of cybersecurity professionals. He teaches an Applied Cybersecurity course at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and master levels, focusing on connecting theoretical principles with practical real-world cybersecurity challenges.
