Personal information

Veronica Corcodel is an Assistant Professor in European and International Law at NOVA School of Law (since February 2021), where she also directs the NOVA Refugee and Migration Clinic (https://novarefugeelegalclinic.novalaw.unl.pt/). She teaches EU Asylum and Migration Law (Master level), International Human Rights Protection Systems (Master level), Public International Law (Bachelor level) and International Law (PhD level). Veronica holds a PhD from Sciences Po Law School (2015) and is the author of the monograph Modern Law and Otherness: The Dynamics of Inclusion and Exclusion in Comparative Legal Thought (Edward Elgar, 2019). Her areas of interest include migration, European and International law, critical theory, socio-legal studies and comparative law. Veronica was an Assistant Professor at Dublin City University and a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute. She was also a Visiting Scholar at Cornell Law School, the University of Turin and the University of Piemonte Orientale.

Her most recent research has focused on the governance of migration to Europe, as well as its relationship with migrants' struggles, civil society actors, and colonial history. She is also currently developing new research on Cold War, authoritariansim and International law.
