Teresa Leonor Ribeiro Cardoso Martins Morgado holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering by Instituto Superior Técnico from Lisbon University/ Portugal, she has a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering option of Materials and Manufacturing Processes by Faculty of Engineering from the University of Porto/ Portugal. The title of her doctoral thesis is “Structural Integrity of Railway Component” and the title of her master's thesis is “Characterization of orthotropy in carbon epoxy plates using interferometric techniques”. Teresa made Professor Public Examinations in the scientific area of Production Technology and Construction, with the Dissertation Title “Study of the influence of stress concentration factor in damage calculation of transport coal wagons railway couplings”.

Teresa expertise and research interests are Mechanical Behaviour of Materials, Mechanics of Fracture, Experimental Stress Analysis, Mechanical Tests, Structural Integrity of Mechanical Components, Manufacturing Processes namely LASER Cladding Process and Foundry Processes, Mechanical Design, Metrology and Instrumentation.
