Raquel Alves da Silva has a PhD degree in Linguistics - Lexicology, Lexicography, and Terminology at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (NOVA FCSH, 2014) and a Postgraduate Degree in Health Literacy at Instituto Universitário de Ciências Psicológicas, Sociais e da Vida - ISPA, (2021).
She is a visiting scientist (grant) at the International Portuguese Language Institute - IILP. From 2020 to 2024, she was head of Health Literacy at VOH.CoLAB - Collaborative Laboratory Value for Health CoLAB, where she worked in health communication, health literacy and digital health literacy.
She was an integrated researcher at the Linguistics Centre of NOVA University Lisbon - NOVA CLUNL (until February 2025). Currently, as a collaborator, she is part of the LLT research team carrying out fundamental research in the scientific areas of Lexicology, Lexicography, and Terminology, focusing on the lexicon, vocabularies, and terminologies.
She received 2 award(s) and/or honours (National Health Literacy Award 2023 and Com@Rehab Communication for interactive rehabilitation in virtual reality winner of the Santander/NOVA Collaborative Research Award 2019-2020 financed by Santander).
She also is a member of the Portuguese mirror committee of ISO at Instituto Português para a Qualidade IPQ/CT 221 "Terminologia, Língua e Linguagens" where she follows the work related to Terminology and Plain Language standards, since 2021.
