Paulo Miguel Martins completed his doctorate in History of Culture and Mentalities in the contemporary period, from ISCTE-IUL, with the thesis Cinema in Portugal: Industrial documentaries. The thesis was defended in 2010 and published the following year by the INCM-Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda. He has a degree in History from the University of Porto and also a master's degree in History from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He his a professor at ESAD-Escola Superior de Artes e Design, from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, in the degree of Sound and Image and also teaches the discipline of History and Image, in the Master of Modern and Contemporary History at ISCTE-IUL. At the Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, he gives lectures in the Video course, on "History of Cinema" and also "Writing and narrative". On the subject of "Communication" he guides training sessions at AESE-business school. He has supervised master's theses and was part of evaluation juries. He has participated in the organization of artistic exhibitions and from 2004 to 2014, two of them visited various cultural centers across the country. He was a researcher at FCT's research project on Theory and aesthetics of documentary cinema. He dedicates himself to writing scripts, having already been shown on television RTP 2 one of the documentaries where he collaborated. He has three novels published to date and several articles in the Portuguese press in the areas of Cinema and History.
