PABLO IBÁÑEZ-BONILLO is a Researcher at CHAM - Centro de Humanidades (Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Universidade Nova de Lisboa), since February 2019. He is one of the vice-directors of CHAM since 2021. He holds a PhD in History of America at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (2016) in cross-affiliation with the University of Saint Andrews (2016). He was Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Universidade Federal do Pará (2017-2018). He was Chief Editor of Americanía. Revista de Estudios Latinoamericanos, published by Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Sevilla, España), between 2014 and 2024. He is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the coordinating institution of the project 'EDGES: Entangling Indigenous Knowledges in Universities' (Marie Curie - Staff Exchanges; ID: 101130077) (2024-2027).

Research interests

His expertise lies in the areas of ethnohistory, colonial history, the history of Amazonia, and Amazonian identities and heritage. He is author of "El Martirio de Laureano Ibáñez. Guerra y religión en Apolobamba, siglo XVII" (La Paz, 2011), and has published articles in international journals, such as Ethnohistory or Revista de História.
