Research interests

Nuno Boavida is a specialist working in the intersection of technology and labour. The integrated researcher of CICS.NOVA is the leader of the European project CROWDWORK (running from 2019 to 2021) that aims to find new strategies to organize workers of digital platforms in the Gig economy. The researcher is also involved in three other European research projects until 2022: (1) INVOLVE - Involving social partners in dual Vocational Training governance: exploring the contribution of social partners in the design, renewal and implementation of dual VET; (2) WORK-LIFE BALANCE - Role of collective bargaining in shaping work-life balance in the public service sector - challenges and perspectives; and (3) METALWORKERS 4.0 – high skills of employees as a measure for high adaptability of enterprises to technological changes. From 2018 to 2020, Nuno Boavida worked in the European project DEEP VIEW that aims to study the social dialogue and collective bargaining practices that address the various effects of teleworking, digital work, virtual work and/or telecommuting. He is the Deputy-Director of the Observatory of Technology Assessment of CICS.NOVA since 2016. In the past, Nuno Boavida worked on research projects related to innovation indicators, technology assessment and labour studies, and had significant experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
