Research activity per year
Miguel Lebre de Freitas holds a PhD in Economics from the University of London. His research interests include international macroeconomics, growth theory, and the Portuguese Economy. His research has been published in academic journals, such as the Journal of International Money and Finance, the Canadian Journal of Economics, and the Journal of Common Market Studies. As a consultant, Miguel has a vast experience in conducting applied economic studies involving different countries or regions, for institutions such as the European Commission, the World Bank, the United Nations, the ACP, the European Court of Auditors, the CEPS, and the Bank of Portugal. Between 2005 and 2010 Miguel was appointed chief economist at the Ministry of Economy from the Government of Portugal (Director of the Cabinet of Strategy and Studies). Currently, he is invited assistant professor at Nova School of Business and Economics, and assistant professor at Universidade de Aveiro. Miguel is teaching both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has accumulated extensive experience of teaching in executive education in Portugal, Brazil and Angola.
