Personal information

Mariana Portas de Freitas is PhD in Historical Musicology by the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New Lisbon University / Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCSH-NOVA). 
Currently researcher at the Institute of Ethnomusicology Music and Dance (INET-md/NOVA), as well as at the Caravelas Group of the Centre for Studies of Sociology and Musical Aesthetics (Caravelas/CESEM/NOVA).

She holds a Master’s degree in Historical Musicology from the same University (FCSH-NOVA), and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Portuguese Catholic University /Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Lisbon.

At the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, she works as coordinator of the publishing activity. Previously, she was International affairs officer and gathered experience from international projects aiming at preservation of cultural heritage of Portuguese origin or influence around the world.

She was coordinator of Coro Gulbenkian / The Gulbenkian Choir, as well as editorial coordinator of the collection «Musicological Studies» («Estudos Musicológicos») of the Calouste GUlbenkian Foundation, under Professor Rui Vieira Nery.
