Personal profile

Research interests

As a PhD student, my research focuses on processes of power legitimation in authoritarian and personalized regimes, through a comparison between two cases: Rwanda and Zimbabwe. I am interestesd in analyzing the relevance of both formal (constitutional limits) and informal (economic performance, history or ideology) factors of power legitimation in authoritarian regimes. Other research interests include human rights, concepts of democracy and the political impact of social movements and social media platforms in the 21st century, in Sub Saharan Africa in particular and in the world in general.
