Margarida Amaro is Researcher and develops her work in the fields of fashion semiotics.
She is currently Integrated Researcher of ICNOVA - NOVA Institute of Communication research center: http://www.icnova.fcsh.unl.pt/en/integrated-members/ and she is Collaborator Researcher of CIAUD, Research Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Design. She is also a member of the research Group of Studies of Semiotics of Culture (GESC) at the University Complutense Madrid.
She holds a European PhD in Communication Sciences (FCSH-UNL, 11 January 2017) with a thesis entitled “Fashion and Communication Cultural Groundings and Aesthetic Senses. A Semiotic Approach to the Fashion: Ana Salazar” (“Moda e Comunicação, Fundamentos Culturais e Sentidos Estéticos. Um olhar semiótico sobre a moda. Ana Salazar").
She has eight years of teaching experience in a public university - University of Aveiro, Portugal - in the fields of communication, photography, aesthetics and semiotics of design.
She also has experience as curator and as art critic.
